MB Perak Receives Medallion Of The City Of Sarajevo

Perak Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Dr. Zambry Abd. Kadir was presented with the Medallion of the City of Saravejo for his commitment in strengthening relationship between the State of Perak and Sarajevo.

He received the medallion from the Mayor of Sarajevo, Dr. Ivo Komsic in a ceremonyheld at Sarajevo, Bosnia Herzegovina on Friday.

The medallion is a symbol of gratitude for supporting development of economy, trade and entrepreneurship and encouraging investment environment in Sarajevo and the region.

In his acceptance speech, Dr. Zambry announced the establishment of twinning city between Ipoh and Sarajevo.

He said, Perak is looking forward to forge stronger cooperation in economic, social and cultural relationships with Bosnia and Herzegovina especially Sarajevo.

"People of Malaysia especially Perak will continue to support and assist Bosnians especially in the area of education.

"The State is offering five scholarships to Bosnians to further their studies in state owned university, Kolej Universiti Islam Sultan Azlan Shah or KUISAS," he said.

Dr. Zambry is in Sarajevo to launch the newly formed Malaysia - Bosnia and Herzegovina Business Council (MBBC).

During the launch, two memorandum of understanding (MoU) were signed by MBBC, Sarajevo Business Council, Persatuan Alumni UIAM and Dunia Melayu Dunia Islam (DMDI) involving cooperations in social and cultural relations.

While another MoU between Great Color Investment Ltd and Energoinvest were signed for exploring energy industry in Bosnia.

Dr. Zambry urged the parties involved in the MoU to expedite the terms into affirmed agreement and turn them into implementation.

In view to the signing, he added, Perak is looking forward into possibility on working together with Bosnian companies in timber, green technology and energy related industries.

Also present at the launch were Bosnian Minister of Energy and Industry, Erdal Trhulj; Malaysian ambassador to Bosnia, Anuar Kasman; Co-Chairman of MBBC Malaysian Chapter, Khairul Azwan Harun and Co-Chaiman of MBBC Bosnian Chapter, Amer Bukvic.

Later on the day, Dr. Zambry paid a courtesy visit to Bosnian President, Bakir Izetbegović.

During the visit, both leaders discussed issues related to bilateral relationship and President Bakir invited the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah to visit Bosnia.
